Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge provide many opportunities for people to engage with nature though various outdoor activities. The refuge offers some of the best opportunities to see and enjoy local wildlife. Visitors from across the United States and several foreign countries travel here hoping to see Bald Eagles, Tundra Swans, and the large concentrations of waterfowl. Others enjoy fishing, hunting, photography, and tranquil backwater excursions.
Supporting Local Communities
Most of our visitors stop in nearby communities to fill their tanks with gasoline or eat a good meal and many elect to stay in local hotels. In partnership with surrounding communities, we encourage visitors to experience the diverse opportunities, neighborhood services, and community events that only the Midwest can offer!
